Okay, there are a few women I’d like to kill, but many more who I’d love to have kill me.
I’ve had a great interest in 50’s horror films and their representation of the libido as “The Monster”. Most often it’s a large masculine creature taking away the unconscious female, to the terror of the men around her. In this case though, we have that deadly female, the proverbial Black Widow, given to us in another insect form as “The Wasp Woman”.

She defined the term “Fiery Redhead” with a lifetime of wild antics that brought down political figures and changed the face of exotic dancing. “Fiery” would also describe her infamous “burning couch” routine that was captured on film by the notorious Irving Klaw.
Blaze made Baltimore her home when just barely legal, a young stripper laying down a wonderful red carpet of sexploitation for future stars Divine and John Waters.
As happens to many artists who push society’s limits The Man arrested Blaze Starr for obscenity in Philadelphia for her raw embodiment of a panther, crawling ravenously on her hands and knees across the stage to the crowd’s delight. In truth she was honoring her beloved pet that had left this earth all too soon, and had been not only her feline friend but also a talented colleague and collaborator. How dare they!
This wonderful performer is truly a legend of the stage.
